    ⇒ a person or group is kept under observation (often by s.o. in a position of authority who believes that that person or group has done sth. illegal, reprehensible etc):

    - all Xs live (fall) under the watchful eye of Y.

    ⇒ (s.o. has the specified achievements or, occas., undesirable actions) as part of his past experience:
    - у X-a на счету много Y-ов≈ X has many Ys under his belt;
    - X has racked up (accumulated etc) alot of Ys.
         ♦ У Дмитрия на счету больше ста изобретений. Dmitry has more than one hundred inventions under his belt.

    нареч.

    Русское многозначное наречие еще употребляется в ситуациях, относящихся к действиям разного характера. В английском языке разным значениям русского еще соответствуют разные слова, разный характер предложений, в которых они употребляются. Английские соответствия относятся к разным частям речи.
    1. another — еще один, другой (прилагательное «another» описывает ситуацию добавления еще одного такого же объекта к уже имеющемуся; употребляется в утвердительных и вопросительных предложениях): Would you like another cup of tea? — He хотите ли еще чашечку чая? Have another slice of cake! — No, no more, thank you. — Возьмите еще кусочек торта. — Нет, спасибо, я больше не хочу. We have another ten minutes before the bell. — У нас до звонка еще десять минут. Let's discuss it another time. — Давай поговорим об этом в другой раз.
    2. more — еще (к тому, что уже есть): Could I have two more books? — Можно мне взять еще две книги? I want some more milk. — Мне хочется еще молока. Do you have any more questions? — У вас есть еще вопросы? Would you like some more meat? — No, no more, thank you. — Еще мяса хотите? — Нет, я сыт, спасибо.     3. yet — еще, еще не, еще нет (употребляется только в отрицательных предложениях и указывает на еще не совершенное действие; обычно стоит в конце предложения): Не hasn't come yet. — Он еще не пришел. I haven't finished reading the book yet, it will take me another day or two, I think. — Я еще не дочитал эту книгу, мне нужно, я думаю, еще день-два. The question has not been yet considered/hasn't been considered yet. — Этот вопрос еще не рассматривался. Are you ready? — No, not yet. — Ты готова? — Еще нет. Dinner is not yet ready. — Обед еще не готов. It is not yet clear for me. — Мне это все еще неясно.
    4. else — еще (указывает на объект общего характера, не такой, какой уже есть или был; часто употребляется в сочетаниях с неопределенноличными местоимениями something, somebody, anything, anybody, nothing, nobody и вопросительными местоимениями who, what, where): Who else is going to come? — Кто еще собирается прийти? Where else did you sec him? — Где еще вы его видели? What else do you want to ask? — О чем еще вы хотите спросить? I don't know anything else about him. — Я о нем больше ничего не знаю. Can you add anything else? — No, nothing else. — Вы можете что-нибудь еще добавить? — Нет, больше ничего. There is something else I'd like to mention. — Я бы хотел упомянуть еще кое о чем.
    5. still — еще, все еще (указывает на продолжение того же действия или состояния, которое было упомянуто или ясно из ситуации): Are you still at home? You said you would leave early. — Как, ты еще дома?/ Как, ты все еще дома? Ты сказал, что уйдешь рано. The child is still sleeping. — Ребенок все еще спит. The boy is still too young to understand it. — Мальчик еще слишком мал, чтобы это понять. And I am still against your going there. — И все же я продолжаю возражать против твоей поездки туда.
